How Böllhoff Optimises Capacity and Transparency with Blue Ant

To efficiently manage the large number of projects and parallel tasks within product development, Böllhoff has relied on the multi-project management software Blue Ant for several years.

The starting point was a clear challenge: achieving transparency across ongoing projects, line tasks, and resource capacities – and having a solid foundation for discussion when addiitonal capacities were needed. By introducing Blue Ant, Böllhoff established a professional resource management tool that enables structured planning, control, and prioritisation across all development projects.

“Questions like When can we start a new project? or What’s the impact if an employee is absent? simply couldn’t be answered adequately with Excel,” explains Alexej Butov, responsible for resource and portfolio management in the Thread Technology division.

One of Blue Ant’s major advantages lies in the dynamic nature of ist simulations. Changes such as urgent projects, new framework conditions, or additional line tasks can be reflected in the system immediately, with their effects made visible in real time.

This creates a solid data-driven basis for discussions with stakeholders and senior management. As a result, capacity management is no longer based on static Excel sheets but on an integrated, sustainable solution for comprehensive project planning and portfolio transparency
